dum dum de dum

So we now have three best men for our wedding. Apparently this is not weird. I think it is kind of weird, in the sense that it'd be weird to have more than one bride or more than one groom. But it's what he wants so it's what he gets and I'm happy if he's happy (after some convincing-of-self that this will not make the wedding seem a bit silly :P). Of course I'd like them all to be involved as well, but I just thought there was only one best man role.. but then if I'm wearing purple I'm sure he can be untraditional as well. I think the thing that bothered me most - although I don't like to admit it - was the fact that he didn't discuss the third best man thing before asking him to do it.. but shh
I hate wedding planning sometimes (well, 99% of the time)
On a plus side, if Beth is still my flowergirl (it's about 75/25 that she will be) I may just buy her one of these lilac dresses from Next. Quite cheap, and sweet, and would match the purple theme (although I prefer the white dress but it doesn't fit in with the theme so never mind). I hope it doesn't look that sack-like in reality (notagain, I don't suppose there's any chance you have seen these dresses at work?) My parents are actually paying for the bridesmaid dresses, and now I know I have got at least something sorted, I feel a bit better.
Actually, these dresses go up to age 14 and one of the bridesmaids Jess will be 11 - perhaps it'd be better to give her one of these dresses too, and then her 18 year old sister and the maid of honour can wear adult dresses in silver? Does that work? I wasn't sure how to find an adult dress to fit an eleven year old girl, really.
Argh, I feel so out of my depth here! I need a wedding planner like Becky in the Shopaholic book where she has 2 weddings organised..
This is the first resolution I have broken already and it's only 2 and a bit days into January. Whoops.
I know it's boring. It bores me to have to think about it in so many loops. Why can't I be a man and just go "I'll have that please" and forget about it? :P

I think the lilac one is cute :) Why not buy it, send it for her to try on and if it doesnt fit right take it back and get your money back?

BTW did I show you the pics of the dress I want to get married in?

Re:
That's the plan (but not yet, as 2 year olds grow a lot in 7 months and I'd imagine 11 year olds do as well!)
It's not the fitting that I'm wondering about as much as the style - it is a bit babyish isn't it? But then she is still quite young, she will have only just left primary school, so maybe she won't mind.
And no, I didn't see the pic, show me! :)

Re:
Well if she's 11 she's old enough to tell you what she thinks :D

As for dresses, I want this in this fabric.

Re:
She is from an overly polite family though :P
I could email the pic to her sister and she can show it to Jess. It's a shame they don't have a picture of a teenager wearing it though. Still, there's not much reason to dislike it, I hope :/
Wow, you're going to be a geisha?! How cool is that?! Stu's uncle married a Japanese lady and she wore a kimono that apparently took TWO HOURS to get into. His daughter wore one too :)

Re:
Yeah. For years I've been saying I want to get married in an oriental style dress. Someone on chubbychicks put a link up to the site, as she is getting her wedding dress from there (not the same dress! hers is more of a classical design).

Re:
Would your bridesmaids (if you're having any) wear the same sort of dress?
It was cool at Stu's uncle's wedding because the groom and his son were in traditional English wedding attire, and the bride and bridesmaid were in Japanese. They were going to feature it in one of these women's magazines because it was unusual but I don't think it happened in the end.

I haven't seen it, but I'll go and look for you. Even though I do hate the kids wear section cos it makes me broody ;)

well, you get lots of bridesmaids *and* a maid of honour, so it'll be like, one best man and two.... ur groommaids? lol, i don't think it's that wierd, don't worry about it :)

Re:
apparently they are called groomsmen, but in that case you still have one best man and two that are sort of second in command.
Apparently it's fine for me to think of them that way, even if they're ALL best men, though :P They're each going to have best-man-type jobs to do, and maybe they can all share the speech (rather than three long ones!) so it won't be too bad :)
I am about 70% used to it now anyway :>
Are you having any snow in Cardiff at the moment? It seems some places are.. not London though of course!! I had an urge to go for a walk in Roath Park this morning, must be mad :P

Beth would look sooooo cute in that dress.... I think they're both lovely, but I like the lilac one best....

Re:
Yeah? I don't know about the shape of it, but I think it's just a dodgy picture. It looks a bit shapeless from waist down and the ribbon detail looks puffy! However I will probably go for it, for both Beth and Jessica (she won;t be out of primary school quite yet.. she won't mind :P)

Re:
It's puffy and frilly, but when I was little that was all I wanted!!!! I'm sure they'll both love them and will look adorable...

Re:
I don't know, my mum emailed me saying perhaps the dress is too childish for Jess, argh! She's 11 though and the dresses go up to age 14.. so they can't be THAT bad?!

Re:
I didn't think it was particularly childish.... it was girlie, but I think an 11 year old would be fine in it....

perhaps show it to Jess and see what she thinks, or is it supposed to be a surprise?

Re:
I would have thought so too. Anyway they don't HAVE to be happy with my choice :P
It's not a surprise, but she lives quite a long way away, and I'm not really sure how honest she'd be, they're very polite :/
